Tomutiu, Bakritzes Named Silversword Athletes of the Week

Chaminade University men's soccer forward Vlad Tomutiu (Belmont, Calif./Cañada College/Carlmont HS) and women's soccer goalkeeper Sydney Bakritzes (Edina, Minn./University of North Dakota/Edina HS) are the Silversword Male and Female Athletes of the Week for competition between Sept. 7-13.
 
Tomutiu become just the 15th player in program history to record a multi-goal game after scoring two goals in the Silverswords' game at Saint Martin's last Thursday. The senior got his first goal just one minute and 50 seconds into the game, the fourth-fastest in team history. He found the back of the net again via penalty kick in the 71st minute.
 
Bakritzes totaled six saves in the Silverswords' road trip last week to Seaside, California. Against Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday, the senior made five stops including one on an Otters' penalty kick, becoming the first Silversword to earn a save on a PK attempt since Brandee Lane against Hawai'i Hilo on Sept. 4, 2017.
