LONG BEACH, Calif. – Chaminade University softball players
Taryn Fujioka (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) and
Larchelle Tuifao (Ewa Beach, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kapolei) on Tuesday were named to the All-Pacific West Conference Teams in voting conducted by the conference coaches.
Both Silversword seniors ended their careers as three-time all-conference honorees.
Tuifao was named to the All-PacWest First Team at catcher after hitting .359 with 28 RBI and six home runs, all of which led the team. She also posted a .566 slugging percentage, .460 on-base percentage with an OPS of 1.026, had 17 extra base hits while her 14 career homers rank fourth all-time. She also played nine games at first base this season with a fielding percentage of .975 while throwing out eight batters attempting stolen bases, which was tied for third in the PacWest.
Tuifao, who earned All-PacWest honors at designated player the past two years including third team recognition in 2023 and first team in 2024, is the first Silversword to earn first team all-conference honors at two different positions.
It marks the third straight year that the conference's top catcher has been from Chaminade (
Keaolani Takemura-Brehme in 2023 and '24).
Fujioka, a third team pick in 2023 and second team in 2024, was named to the All-PacWest Third Team after a senior year that saw her post a .353 average with an on-base percentage of .449 and 32 runs while tying the conference lead with eight triples. Chaminade's all-time hits leader with 194 ended her career as one of the most prolific hitters in school history, finishing No. 2 in career batting average at .357. Along with her total hits, she is also the school's career leader in runs (126), triples (23), walks (90) and assists (464).
The PacWest Player of the Year was Maddy Ybarra from conference newcomer Jessup University. Dominican University of California had two players named to the conference's top individual honor with Taylor Rodriguez as the Pitcher of the Year and Tiare Guerrero as Co-Defensive Player of the Year, whom she shares the award with Lexie Tilton of the University of Hawai'i Hilo.
PacWest regular season champion Biola had the Freshman of the Year in Kendall Nakano and Coach of the Year in Kristin Halte. CUI's Kayla Rodgers was selected as the Newcomer of the Year.
