Five Chaminade University softball student-athletes on Tuesday were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Â
Bailey Benson (Cheney, Wash./Gonzaga Preparatory),
Summer Buck (Honolulu/Kaiser),
Miranda Diaz (Whittier, Calif./Cerritos College/California HS),
Taryn Fujioka (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) and
Kamryn Lopez (Bakersfield, Calif./Garces Memorial) were recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom.
Â
Benson had a team-high 21 starts in the circle for the Silverswords, posting a team-low 4.64 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 101 innings. The junior had the team's lone complete-game shutout, a 3-0 win at Academy of Art on March 25, facing just 22 batters, one above the minimum.
Â
Despite being slowed by an injury early in the season, Buck became a mainstay in the 'Swords' lineup, starting 40 games as a utility player. Seventeen of her starts came in centerfield but moved to third base towards the end of the season with 10 starts. She was also in the lineup card four times in left field, two at second base and seven at designated player. The sophomore hit .284 with an OPS of .794, 14 RBI and nine extra base hits.
Â
Diaz started all 42 of her games at the hot corner with a .264 average and 23 driven in. The junior had seven multi-hit games and a team-leading six multi-RBI contests with a 13-game on-base streak being the second longest on the squad.
Â
Fujioka, who earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive year, wrapped up one of the most decorated careers in Chaminade softball history. The school's all-time leader in hits, runs and triples, the 2024 Pacific West Conference Player of the Year honoree batted .353 in 2025 with an OPS of .958, scoring 32 times with 18 RBI to earn third team all-conference honors this past season.
Â
Lopez made a team-high 26 appearances with seven starts, tossing 73 innings with 10 strikeouts. Her best outing was on April 8 against Biola, tossing 6 2/3 innings and allowing just one run. The junior allowed just one run through the first four innings before being pulled. She re-entered with one out in the top of the fifth and proceeded to shut out the eventual PacWest champions the final 2 2/3 frames.
Â
To be recognized on the Academic All-District team, candidates must be a sophomore both academically and athletically, have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and have played in either 90 percent or have started in 66 percent of their team's contests. Pitchers must have a minimum 17 appearances or 35.0 innings pitched.
