LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team is ranked No. 9 in the AVCA/Taraflex Division II Preseason Top 25 Poll.
The Silverswords, who spent the entirety of the 2024 season in the poll, received 756 points and ranked for a record-28th straight week.
Defending Division II national champion Lynn University is the preseason No. 1, receiving 45 of 47 first-place votes. Angelo State is second while St. Cloud State is third. San Francisco State, the defending West Region champion and national runner-up, and Ferris State round out the top five.
Point Loma, picked to win the Pacific West Conference in the preseason poll, is ranked 16th nationally. Cal Poly Pomona is the only other West Region team in the poll at No. 11.
Cal State Los Angeles and Central Washington, whom the 'Swords will face in the coming weeks, are among those receiving votes.
Chaminade is in Anchorage, Alaska, to open its season later this afternoon when they face the University of Alaska in the opener of the Hawai'i-Alaska Challenge presented by Alaska Airlines.
