LONG BEACH, Calif. – A 3-0 start to their Southern California road trip has earned Chaminade University women's volleyball the Pacific West Conference Team of the Week honor.
All three of the Silverswords' wins came against teams with winning records at the time of the match (Westmont, Azusa Pacific, Vanguard). The victories not only extended their current win streak to six straight, they also pushed their PacWest win streak to 29 straight, dating back to October 2023.
In the 11 sets during the trip, six of them went into extra points with the 'Swords winning five of them.
Alizaysha Sopi (Waianae, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Tennessee State University/Kapolei HS) totaled 39 kills during the week while
Reina Krueger (Fort Collins, Colo./Liberty Commons) was a virtual wall with 20 blocks.
Allexis Iramina (Honolulu/Moanalua) dished out 72 assists during the stretch with
Sina Bauer (Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany/Maximillian-von-Montgelas Gymnasium Vilsbiburg) totaling 43 digs.
Menlo College's Fuka Kikuchi was named the conference Player of the Week while the University of Hawai'i Hilo middle blocker Isabella Freeman was the Defender of the Week
The Silverswords (9-7 overall, 3-0 PacWest) close out their mainland road trip later this evening at CUI then make a trip to the Big Island to face UH Hilo on Saturday at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium which will also be a part of a doubleheader with the University of Hawai'i men's volleyball scrimmage which follows.
