MORGAN HILL, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team made their spring championship season debut Thursday, competing at the 54-hole RCA Electric Spring Invitational at the par-72 Coyote Creek Golf Course.
The Silverswords are third in the seven-team field after posting a 614 after the first two rounds. The 'Swords shot 304 in the first round and was in second place for a majority of the next 18 holes before Westminster overtook them down the stretch, putting them four shots behind. Host Menlo is the Round 2 leader at 604.
Chance Wilson (Princeville, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Enlightium Academy) is tied for second after 36 holes with Westminster's Andrew Ahlstrom at 4-over-par 148. The freshman carded a 4-over-par 76 in the morning followed by an even-par 72 in the afternoon. Wilson carded three birdies in the final 18 holes to put him just three shots behind Menlo's Cole Kroeker for the lead entering the final round.
Tanner Capik (Los Angeles/Beverly Hills) is at 12-over 156 with dual 78s and is tied for 16th overall.
Cody Dao (Henderson, Nev./Liberty) shot 157 followed by freshman
Riley Born (Las Vegas/Odyssey), who joined the team just after the Christmas break, at 158.
A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) rounds out the Chaminade five-man squad at 162.
The Silverswords will wrap up the Invitational in Friday's 18-hole finale with a shotgun start time of 6 a.m. Hawai'i time.
