HONOLULU – The Chaminade University beach volleyball team wrapped up the 2026 season Thursday with a 4-1 win over Hawai'i Pacific University at Hunakai Park.
The No. 5 duo of
DeLaney Poling (Gilbert, Ariz./Park University/Perry HS) and
Aliya Hofherr-Sanders (Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hanalani) along with the No. 3 team of
Audrah Johnson (Nampa, Idaho/Utah State University/Nampa HS) and
Alizaysha Sopi (Waianae, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Tennessee State University/Kapolei HS) recorded straight set victories, giving the Silverswords a 2-0 lead.
The 'Swords top tandem of
Kanoelehua Misipeka (Pago Pago, American Samoa/Liberty North, Mo.) and
Leilani Ama (Spokane, Wash./Mt. Spokane) clinched the match with a 21-15, 21-17 win over Ella Schoene and Rosie Larkin.
The Flight 4 team of
Lilinoe Paschoal (Wailuku, Maui, Hawai'i/Baldwin) and
Lillie Hinton (Spicewood, Texas/Lake Travis) put CUH up 4-0 after their 21-15, 21-15 victory.
The 'Swords were looking for their first match sweep of the Sharks since April 2024 when
Beele Wieczorek (Wiesbaden, Germany/Elly-Heuss School) and
Sina Bauer (Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany/Maximillian-von-Montgelas Gymnasium Vilsbiburg) grabbed a 21-19 opening set win against Lindsey Tapp and Jordan Pascone. However, with HPU leading 19-17 in the second set, an injury resulted in Chaminade forfeiting the Flight 2 match.
Following the match, Misipeka, Poling and Sopi were honored as the team's seniors. Johnson, a redshirt freshman who played one year as a Silversword on both the indoor and beach teams, was also honored and will be departing the island with her husband, Isaac Johnson, an outgoing senior on the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team.
Misipeka departs with 16 all-time wins, the most in program history while Poling finished with 10 career wins.
The Silverswords snapped their 13-match skid to end their third year of program existence at 5-13. The Sharks ended their season at 0-8.
