NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Chaminade University men's golf team continues to hold an eighth-place standing after Tuesday's second round of the Pacific West Conference Championships at the par-72, 6,818-yard Aliante Golf Course.
With high winds whipping through the area, the Silverswords shot 321 in Round 2, putting them 22 shots behind No. 7 Jessup University heading into Wednesday's final 18 holes.
Riley Born (Las Vegas/Odyssey), who shot even-par after Monday's opening round, struggled in the windy conditions, shooting a 7-over-par 79 in the second round, putting him at 7-over for the tournament.
Chance Wilson (Princeville, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Enlightium Academy) posted Chaminade's low Round 2 score with a 4-over 76, tying him with Born for the 'Swords' low overall score. Born and Wilson are two of three golfers tied for 19th overall.
Cody Dao (Henderson, Nev./Liberty) is at 14-over after a second round total of 81.
A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) shot an 85 on Tuesday, putting him at plus-21 followed by
Tanner Capik (Los Angeles/Beverly Hills) whose 13-over round put him at 23-over for the tournament.
The University of Hawai'i Hilo, the defending PacWest champions, are at 2-under, to hold an 18-stroke lead over Menlo College.
UH Hilo's Dylan Bercan continues to be the individual leader at 6-under, two shots ahead of Vanguard's Kyle Koski.
Wednesday's final round begins at 6:50 a.m. Hawai'i time. Capik will be the first Chaminade golfer to tee off with Wilson being the final at 7:30 a.m.
