SONOMA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team opened their final regular season tournament on Monday at the Dominican Spring Invitational, previously called the Chilly the Penguin Shootout at the par-72 Sonoma Golf Course.
The Silverswords are seventh after the first day's first two rounds at 634.
Riley Born (Las Vegas/Odyssey) is tied for 15th overall, shooting a two-round total of 5-over-par 149. The freshman opened the tournament at even-par in the morning's first 18 holes before shooting a 5-over in the second round.
Cody Dao (Henderson, Nev./Liberty) is in a tie for 20th at 8-over, shooting plus-4 in both rounds.
Chance Wilson (Princeville, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Enlightium Academy) shot 164 in his first two rounds followed by
Tanner Capik (Los Angeles/Beverly Hills) and
A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) at 171 each.
Menlo is the 36-hole leader at 10-over, holding a two-shot lead over Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Oaks' Jack Stack is the Round 2 leader at 2-under, one shot better than the Toros' Zachary Iwashita.
The invitational concludes Tuesday with the 18-hole finale with a shotgun start of 5:30 a.m. Hawai'i time.
