HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team will face the University of Hawai'i Manoa in an exhibition match on Monday, Aug. 17 at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m. with free admission for all fans.

The Silverswords and Rainbow Wahine have met just once in regular season action, back on Sept. 14, 1989 when the 'Swords hosted UH at McCabe Gymnasium, the result being a 3-0 sweep in favor of Hawai'i, at the time ranked No. 1 in the nation.

The upcoming exhibition will not count towards the regular season and will be their only such competition of the year.

It will also be a reunion with new UH assistant coach Kolby Kanetake, who resigned as Chaminade associate head coach earlier this month. Kanetake was an All-American libero with Hawai'i's men's squad back in the mid-2010s.

The Silverswords will open the regular season on Thursday, Aug. 20, in the Hawai'i-Alaska Challenge against Alaska Anchorage on the Big Island. Their first McCabe Gym home matches are Thursday, Sept. 3 against Saint Martin's University and Western Colorado University in the Hawai'i Challenge.
