LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team received Pacific West Conference weekly recognition Tuesday with outside hitter
Lillie Hinton (Spicewood, Texas/Lake Travis) earning Player of the Week honors while the squad itself was the conference's Team of the Week.
Hinton led last weekend's Hawai'i Challenge field with 68 total kills and a 4.25 per set average to earn tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. She capped off the Challenge by slamming down a career-high-tying 19 kills in the finale against Western Oregon.
After two full weekends of competition in Division II, Hinton leads the PacWest in kills at a 3.92 average.
In completing a perfect 4-0 mark in the Challenge, the Silverswords were also recognized as the PacWest's Team of the Week. CUH led all tournament teams in kills per set (14.50), assists per set (13.88) and digs average (16.13).
The conference's Defender of the Week went to Concordia's Sarah Guglielmana.
The 'Swords, who received seven points in the "also receiving votes" category in the latest AVCA Division II Coaches Poll, are 6-4 overall heading into conference action which begins Thursday at Hawai'i Pacific University. First serve is at 6 p.m.
