Laie, HI- The Silverswords came out today a little slow out of the gates, they fell in the first match up with the Seasiders by way of the mercy rule 8 to 0. They bounced back and won their second game of the day in dramatic a fashion.
BYUH dominated the first game holding the Swords to only one hit on twenty at bats. Rather than fall down and give up, Chaminade stay focused and captured their first victory of the season in 8 innings of play.
Kasy'e Lalau faced 29 batters, gave up 3 hits, 5 strike outs, 1 base on balls, she improves to 1-5 overall this year. Shalin Yamaguchi's game winning single in the Top of the 8th inning scored Syke Virtudes from second base putting the Swords up by a run. The Swords took the field and shut BYUH down with a 3 up 3 down inning.
With the spilt games, CUH moves to 1-11 overall and 0-1 in the Pac West Conference, while BYU Hawaii moves to 5-9 on the year. The Swords host Grand Canyon University on March 1st and CORPS Field in a double header match up, first pitch is set for 12:00PM.
