The Swords played solid softball tonight @ Central Oahu Regional Park (CORP) tonight, despite losing 5 to 0 and 9 to 1. Sophomore pitcher, Chelsi Walls, broke a no hitter in the bottom of the 6th inning with a homerun. The hard hit fly ball jumped off the bat and cleared the left center field wall with plenty of room to spare, this was her first collegiate career homerun.
# 1 Chaminade played fairly well as team in the day's first game. They only gave up 7 hits on 28 at bats and 5 earned runs. Two players for Academy of Art University each contributed 2 RBI's a piece on one hit each. The other came on a solo HR shot by second basemen, Nicole Palmer.
Chelsi Walls is charged with the loss. She faced 28 batters, gave up 7 hits, 3 earned runs, struck out 2 and walked 1.
Game # 2- The second game was sloppiest games all year, the Swords gave up 7 runs in the Top of 7th inning and fell 9 to 1. Chaminade played hard all game despite not getting a hit until Chelsi Walls solo homerun in the bottom of the 6th. Chaminade trailed by 1 run headed into the Urban Knights last at a bat. That inning Chaminade gave up one hit after another and ended up putting themselves in a huge hole. Unfortunately for the team, the people in attendance and the Chaminade faithful the hole proved to be much to deep to crawl out of, they fell 9 to 1.
Kasy'e Lalau is charged with the loss. She faced 31batters, gave up 12 hits and 7 earned runs. She only had 2 walk on the day and she did had 1 strikeout, she pitched the entire 7 innings.
With losing both games tonight, Chaminade falls to 4-20 on the season. The Swords square off against BYU Hawaii at Central Oahu Regional Park (CORP), on Saturday March 21st, First pitch is set for 10:00AM HT. This is a double header match up against the Seasiders of BYU Hawaii. This is the last home game for Chaminade University this season at CORP Field.
