Honolulu, HI- For the second straight match, the Swords battled and came up just short, dropping today's West Region match to the Sea Wolves of Alaska Anchorage in four sets (24-26, 19-25, 25-22, 21-25) this afternoon in McCabe Gym.
Freshman Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) gave Sword fans reason to be excited, leading the way with 15 kills (.351 hitting percentage) and 9 digs for the Swords.
Senior Courtney Lorusso (Los Angeles, CA/Glendora) added a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs for the Swords. Lorusso's digs were instrumental in Chaminade's set three win.
Junior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 35 assists for CUH. Sophomore Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui HS) added 18 digs for the Swords.
Alaska-Anchorage out-dug the Swords 65-54. Team blocks were tied at 7 apiece.
Anchorage was led by Cortney Lundberg with 17 kills. Calli Scott led the Seawolves with 46 assists.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 1-8. Alaska-Anchorage improves to 7-4. The Swords are back in action on September 17th against UH-Hilo. First serve is set for 7 PM HT in Hilo, HI. Boxscore.htm
