CUH MBB: Swords Impressive in Road Win Over St. Martin's 73-58

Bennett leads with 20 points, 5 assists

LACEY, WA-  Chaminade grabbed the lead at 9-8 on a dunk by junior Chris Curtis with 15:45 left in the opening half and never looked back, leading the Saints the rest of the way en route to a 73-58 victory at Marcus Pavilion.

The Swords fought through early foul trouble as five Swords were saddled with two foulsd in the first half.  CUH led 39-33 at the break.

Chaminade defended senior All-American Blake Poole well, holding Poole to 9 points and 9 rebounds.  Steven Bennett led three Swords in double figures with 20 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 0 turnovers on the night.  Chandler Pearson added 11 points and 9 rebounds, while Chris Curtis chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds in the win.  Curtis, Pearson and Shane Hanson each connected on two threes a piece, while junior center Mamadou Diarra added 9 points, 5 blocks and 5 rebounds. 

St. Martin's cut the lead to three with 11:48 to play in the second half before the Swords went on a 14-0 run to seal the victory.

Chaminade improves to 2-0, while St. Martin's falls to 1-1.  The Swords are back in action at home on November 18th at 7:30 PM HT against Western New Mexico.
