CUH WSOC: Swords Fall 7-2 to ‘Lopes of GCU

HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade took on Grand Canyon in a Pac West Conference matchup this afternoon at St. Louis Field and lost 7-2.      
 
GCU got up early on two goals by Cheyenne Hayden in the 3rd and 21st minute, for a 2-0 GCU lead.  The Antelopes added two more goals in the first half and took a 4-0 lead into halftime.    
 
The Swords were out-shot 14-2 by Grand Canyon in the first half.
 
Chaminade responded in the second half as freshman Shannon Wright scored two goals in the final 45 minutes, but the 'Lopes didn't slow down, scoring three goals in the second half for the 7-2 victory. 
 
Freshman Kainoa Makua (Kailua, HI/Kalaheo) stopped 11 shots for CUH. 
 
GCU's Hayden and Nesic each scored two goals for GCU.
 
The Swords were out-shot 32-7.  
 
With the loss, the Swords move to 1-5, 1-1 in conference.  Grand Canyon improves to 3-3-1, 2-0.  Chaminade is back in action on September 27th at NDNU.  Match time is set for 2:00 PM PT.
