CUH MSOC: Swords Earn 1-0 Road Win at Point Loma Nazerene

Furman scores game-winner

Box Score SAN DIEGO, CA- Chaminade earned a hard-fought and much-needed conference win, defeating the Sea Lions of PLNU on the road today in San Diego by a score of 1-0. 
 
The first half saw seven saves between both teams, but no goals and the match went to the break tied at 0-0.
 
The score stayed that way until the 72nd minute, when Chaminade's Jose Furman (Miami, FL/ Miami Country Day) won a 1v.1 with Point Loma goalkeeper Carter Phillips to notch the game-winner.   
 
The shot total was close, as PLNU out-shot Chaminade 14-11.    
 
Junior Conor Knox (O'Fallon, IL / O'Fallon Township) made 6 saves for CUH.  Dayton Sato (Waipahu, HI/Pearl City) led all players with 5 shots.  Sam Galloway (Akron, OH/Copley) added two shots on goal for CUH to lead all players in that category. 
 
Coach Higgins commented on the conference win in San Diego: “A great team effort to preserve the win on the last game at the end of a long road trip. Jose's (Furman) extra individual effort led to the winning goal.  A lot of good contributions.  Collectively, a team win.”
 
With the win, Chaminade improves to (2-8-1, 2-6-1 PWC). Point Loma Nazarene falls to (2-9, 1-8 PWC).  Chaminade is back at home to face HPU on October 17th. The match is set for 10:00 AM HT.
