Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade took on NCAA Division I Cal State Bakersfield tonight in McCabe Gym and fell in four sets: 18-25, 17-25, 25-21 and 21-25.
The Roadrunners looked to be on their way to a three-set sweep early on, but Chaminade had different ideas. Sparked by strong play off the bench by
Kapiolani Rapoza (Kailua, HI/Sacred Hearts) with 8 kills on a .429 hitting percentage, CUH took set three with an impressive 25-21 set win. CSUB rallied in set four, winning the set 25-21 to earn the win.
Silversword senior outside hitter
Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) is making the most of her final matches in a Chaminade uniform, again leading the way with 11 kills, while
Kim Spring (Bern, Switzerland/ Feusi Bildungszentrum and Feusi Sportschule) added 10 kills. Junior setter
Daniella Montoya (Las Vegas, NM/Robertson) led the way with 20 assists for the Silverswords. Chaminade hit .218 on the match while Bakersfield hit .246.
Freshman
Brenda Walker (Honolulu, HI/McKinley) led the Silverswords with 13 digs. CUH was active defensively, out-digging the Roadrunners 46-36 and were even in blocks with eight each for both teams.
The Roadrunners were led by Kelsee Sawyer with 14 kills.
