CUH MSOC: Chaminade on the Board with 3-2 Overtime Win Over UH-Hilo

Sato scores two goals in victory

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade took down the Vulcans of UH-Hilo 3-2 in overtime this morning in PacWest Conference action on St. Louis Field.      
 
The Silverswords offense created opportunities in the first half, but so did the Vulcans as UHH got on the board in the 33rd minute with a goal by Rayden Bala.  Chaminade responded right away with a goal in the 34th minute by sophomore Dayton Sato (Waipahu, HI/Pearl City).  Freshman Colton Gallt (Plainfield, IL / Plainfield South) was credited with the assist. 
 
Hilo led the first half shot count 7-4.  The contest went into the half knotted at 1-1.  The second half started slowly, and the game remained tied 1-1 in the 70th minute. A goal by UHH's Xavier Fuente gave the Vulcans a 2-1 lead in the 71st minute. 
 
Chaminade junior midfielder, Sam Galloway (Akron, OH/ Copley) knotted the score at 2-2 after an impressive one touch goal off a pass from junior Matt Davies (Blaxland, Australia /Blaxland).   After a thrilling final few minutes and a few UH-Hilo chances, the game went into overtime.  The first overtime saw no scoring. Then Sato, back in first game after an ankle injury scored the game winner in the 115th minute for the Chaminade win.
 
Conor Knox (O'Fallon, IL/ O'Fallon) made 9 saves in for CUH.  Hilo won the shot total 18-13.  Fuente led all players with 7 shots. 
 
With the win, Chaminade moves to (1-2-1, 1-0-1 PWC). Hawaii-Hilo moves to 0-3, 0-2 PWC).  Chaminade is set to take on Hawaii Pacific on September 22nd at the St. Louis Soccer Field.  The match is set for 12:30 PM HT.
