Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade fell to nationally-ranked Grand Canyon tonight in three sets, 19-25, 18-25 and 22-25 in the final match of an extended home stand to start the season for the Swords.
Chaminade played well in spurts, hitting .050 in the first set, .100 in the second and .163 in the third and final set. The Swords forced a Grand Canyon timeout late in the third set as CUH went on a quick 4-1 run to cut the 'Lope lead to two at 22-24. GCU earned the next point to earn the 25-22 set win and the match victory.

Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) led the way with 11 kills, while freshman
Brenda Walker (Honolulu HI/ McKinley) tallied 23 digs. Both
Kim Spring (Bern, Switzerland/ Feusi Bildungszentrum and Feusi Sportschule) and
Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) added 7 kills, while junior setter
Daniella Montoya (Las Vegas, NM/ Robertson) led the Swords with 28 assists.
The 'Lopes were led by Kristen Johannsen with 12 kills.
The Swords move to 4-7 (1-2 PWC) with the loss. Grand Canyon improves to 12-1 (2-1 PWC). Chaminade is back in action on September 26th as the Swords go to Fresno Pacific to take on the Sunbirds. First serve is set for 7:00 PM PT.
