NOVATO, Calif. – Chaminade's
Jorge Cisneros continued his impressive junior season, finishing 12
th overall at the Pacific West Conference Men's Cross Country Championships held at Stafford Lake Saturday.
Cisneros finished the 8K run in a time of 27:36, only 36 seconds behind medalist, Bryton Reim of California Baptist. He was named to the PacWest Second Team, marking the second consecutive year Cisneros has earned all-conference post-season honors.
The Silversword men came in ninth in the 10-team field, tallying 263 points. California Baptist took home the PacWest men's championship for the third consecutive year with 37 points.
Emmanuel Jimenez was the second Silversword to cross the finish line in the men's race, coming in at No. 49 overall with a finish time of 29:49.
Aris Springs came in at 64
th at 33:09, followed by
Patrick Cantor-Martinez (68
th, 35.41) and
Kevin Ruaro (70
th, 39:30).
Meanwhile, in the PacWest Women's Championship, senior
Jessica Wences was the top Lady Sword finisher in the 5K, coming in at 43
rd overall, recording a time of 19:56. Fiona McKenna of Hawai'i Pacific won medalist honors for the women with a time of 17:16.
In the 13-team field for the women, the Lady Swords came in 12
th with 309 points. Azusa Pacific scored 34 points to repeat as PacWest women's champions.
Wences' fellow senior,
Shannon Whener, ended her college career, being the second Sword to break the tape, coming in 58
th place with a finishing time of 20:48. Freshman
Nicole Daoang, in only her second race of the year, came in 66
th at 21:44, followed by
Laura Spiegel (68
th, 21:52) and
Ellissa Bio (74
th, 22:51). Other Lady Sword finishers included
Floresa Santos (83
rd, 25:38) and
Nicole Yamase (84
th, 26:07).
Both Cisneros and Jimenez will represent Chaminade at the NCAA West Regional in Spokane, Wash., next Saturday.
