HONOLULU – This Saturday's Chaminade University men's and women's soccer matches at Hawai'i Pacific University have been moved to Waipio Soccer Field No. 5 in Waipahu.
The kickoffs for both matches have also been moved up with the men starting at 11 a.m. followed by the women at 1:30 p.m.
The matches were originally to be played at HPU's Atherton Field in Kaneohe.
On the men's side, freshmen have helped lead the Silverswords with
Curtis Coburn leading the squad in goals with four, followed by
Micah Mokulehua with three. Coburn ranks third in the Pacific West Conference in game-winning goals per match at .300 while
Tyler Braunthal is fifth in the PacWest in assists per game at .400. Braunthal's four assists has also tied him for the most in program history.
Goalkeeper
Bernd Buescherhoff owns a goal against average of 1.214 putting in fifth in the conference while his shutouts per game average is fourth at .400.
With five wins this season, the 'Swords need only one more to match the record of six set in 2014. They have already tied the team record of conference wins set that same season.
For the Lady 'Swords, sophomore
Caitlin Tatemichi has found the back of the net four times this season, putting her only two away from the single-season program record of six set by Jamie Lindstrom in 2007. The Roosevelt High School graduate ranks among the conference leaders in shots and is also tied for seventh in the PacWest in goals per game at .364. Tatemichi is also tied for third in the conference in game-winning goals per match at .182.
Meanwhile
Brandee Lane is faring well in her first year as the team's starting netminder. The former Castle High standout is tied for seventh in the PacWest in shutouts per game at .182 and also averages 6.27 saves per game, which ties her for second in the conference.
Like the men's team, the women need only one victory to match the program record for wins in a season set in 2014.
