Athletics Honors Student-Athletes for 2018-19

HONOLULU – Chaminade University student-athletes were honored Wednesday at its Eighth Annual Athletics Awards Banquet at the Clarence T.C. Ching Conference Center on the Chaminade campus.
 
Awards for Most Outstanding, Most Inspirational and Scholar-Athlete (highest grade point average) were handed out for each of the university's 10 intercollegiate sports programs.
 
Rachel Arakawa of women's soccer was named the recipient of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Outstanding Community Service Award for posting 129 community service hours.
 
In the awards for highest team grade point average, women's soccer compiled a 3.439 aggregate GPA to earn the highest among large roster sports (11 or more participants) for the second consecutive year. In small roster sports (10 or less), women's tennis earned the honor with a 3.512 team GPA.
 
Grant Dressler of men's basketball was the Male Student-Athlete of the Year while Emma Tecklenburg of women's volleyball was the Female Student-Athlete of the Year. The Silversword Award went to men's basketball's Erik Scheive. These awards were announced at the Chaminade Co-Curricular Awards on April 17.
