KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the fourth consecutive year the Chaminade University men's basketball team has been recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) for excellence in the classroom.
The Silverswords are recipients of the 2018-19 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award after getting team grade point average of 3.418 during the '18-19 academic term. The award goes to NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA teams who earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00, combining the GPAs of all team members during the year.
Additionally, six 'Swords were honored individually on the NABC Honors Court.
Nicholas Anderson (Anaheim, Calif./Fullerton College/Canyon HS),
Andre Arissol (Northampton, Englad/Otero JC/Charnwood HS),
Tyler Cartaino (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park),
Telly Davenport (Idaho Falls, Idaho/College of Southern Idaho/Bonneville HS),
Erik Scheive (Marysville, Calif./Yuba College/Marysville HS) and
Masa Swain (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine Prep) were recognized on the Honors Court.
To be listed individually, student-athletes must be academically a junior or senior and be on the varsity roster; maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 at the end of the '18-19 academic year; been at their current institution for at least one year; and be a member of the NCAA or NAIA with a NABC member coach.
