HONOLULU – Chaminade University Athletics celebrated its student-athletes Friday by revealing the awardees during its Athletics Awards Ceremony.

Following stay-at-home and social distancing guidelines due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony was held virtually online for the first time ever on the athletic department's YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Awards for the each of the 10 intercollegiate sports were announced for Most Outstanding, Most Inspirational and Scholar-Athlete. Postseason individual awards were also acknowledged as well as the 37 departing seniors.

Rachel Arakawa of women's soccer repeated as the winner of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Outstanding Community Service Award by completing 99 community service hours.

In the team awards for highest grade point average, women's volleyball compiled a 3.542 GPA to earn the large roster award for 11 or more participants. Men's cross country posted an aggregate GPA of 3.573 to claim the award for the small team roster (10 or less).

Tyler Cartaino of men's basketball was the Male Student-Athlete of the Year while Female Student-Athlete of the Year went to
Rachel Reedy of women's volleyball. The Silversword Award went to Arakawa. All three awards were announced during the Chaminade Co-Curricular Awards on Tuesday which was also held virtually.
