Chaminade Athletics values its commitments to the Pacific West Conference and our fellow members. The decision not to play these matches was very difficult for our staff, our student-athletes and their families, and it was not a decision made without regard for the impact it could have on others. However, there were compelling factors that combined to prevent our teams from safely playing these matches.
We very much wanted to see our women pursue the opportunity to have their first-ever winning season and to see our men complete their season with momentum for 2022. And, like many other programs across the country, there are many "super seniors" on our teams who would have desired nothing more than to have one last chance to complete their playing careers.
However, the health, safety and welfare of our Chaminade 'ohana is paramount, and we fully support and respect the decisions that were made in this regard. Regrettably, the unavoidable timing of these events on the final available day of the NCAA soccer season prevents an opportunity to reschedule these contests.
