Chaminade University women's soccer goalkeeper
Naomi Takata (Honolulu/Pearl City) and men's golfer
Desmond Mello (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i/Moanalua HS) are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Female and Male Athletes of the Week for competition between March 8 and 14.
Â
Takata made three saves against the University of Hawai'i Hilo and survived five Vulcan shots in the final 11 minutes of the game to preserve Saturday's 1-1 draw. The tie helped clinched the Pacific West Conference Hawai'i Pod title, a first for the program.
Â
Mello shot a team-low 164 for the men's golf team at the 36-hole Northwest Nazarene Invitational last Tuesday. The senior posted the 'Swords' lowest round of 79 in the first round.
