Hallman, Bernardo-Flores Earn HPH Honors

Chaminade University cross country seniors Riley Hallman (Renner, S.D./Tri-Valley) and Elijah Bernardo-Flores (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) have been named the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Female and Male Athletes of the Week for competition between Feb. 22 and 28.

Competing in what was likely her final race, Hallman finished the 5-kilometer PacWest Hawai'i Invitational in a time of 26 minutes, 17 seconds in hilly conditions at the Hawai'i Pacific University-Hawai'i Loa campus in Kaneohe while also battling rain and slick course conditions. Her time was nearly a minute better than her previous outing at the same course on Feb. 6.

Like Hallman, Bernardo-Flores participated in what was also likely his final career event. His finishing time in the men's event of the invitational was 19:47.6. His time was a minute and 12 seconds faster than his posted time at the same course in the Feb. 6 HPU Invitational.
