Chaminade University cross country seniors
Riley Hallman (Renner, S.D./Tri-Valley) and
Elijah Bernardo-Flores (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) have been named the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Female and Male Athletes of the Week for competition between Feb. 22 and 28.
Â
Competing in what was likely her final race, Hallman finished the 5-kilometer PacWest Hawai'i Invitational in a time of 26 minutes, 17 seconds in hilly conditions at the Hawai'i Pacific University-Hawai'i Loa campus in Kaneohe while also battling rain and slick course conditions. Her time was nearly a minute better than her previous outing at the same course on Feb. 6.
Â
Like Hallman, Bernardo-Flores participated in what was also likely his final career event. His finishing time in the men's event of the invitational was 19:47.6. His time was a minute and 12 seconds faster than his posted time at the same course in the Feb. 6 HPU Invitational.
