Isaac Amaral-Artharee (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) of Chaminade University men's basketball and
Madelyn Stockslager (Torrance, Calif./South) of softball are the Hawai'i Pacific Health Silversword Male and Female Athletes of the Week for competition between March 1 and 7.
Â
Amaral-Artharee totaled 38 points, 18 rebounds, 10 assists and five steals in four games to help the Silverswords split their final four games of the year including a 13-point, six-rebound performance to defeat nationally-ranked Hawai'i Hilo in Saturday's finale.
Â
Stockslager won both games in the 'Swords' season-opening doubleheader at Hawai'i Pacific University on Sunday, tossing 9 2/3 innings with 12 strikeouts and allowing just two earned runs. In her Game 1 start, she broke the single-game strikeout record with 11 then came out of the bullpen in the nightcap and kept the Sharks bats in check, allowing the Silverswords to rally in the sixth inning. Since records prior to 2003 are incomplete, it is believed to be the first-ever sweep of HPU in the 34-year history of the program.
