AIEA, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's golf team ended the Hawai'i Triangular in third place with a 622 after shooting a final round 317 on Sunday at the par-72 Pearl Country Club.
Playing on their home course, Hawai'i Pacific University won the team title with a 587 while the University of Hawai'i Hilo closed with a 598.
Under cloudy and at times rainy conditions,
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) couldn't sustain his Saturday performance by shooting an 8-over-par 80 but still finished tied for eighth overall with a 152.
Jeren Nishimoto (Honolulu/Kaiser) finished in a three-way tie for 10th at 154 after shooting a 5-over 77, an identical score from his Saturday scorecard.
Colby Gunderson (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) wrapped his tournament with a 156 after a second-round 81.
Kalani Frazier (Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kapolei) had the Silverswords' best second-day improvement by carding a 79, six shots better than his Saturday score, finishing with a 164 as did
Desmond Mello (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i/Moanalua HS) after a Sunday round of 83.
Like Frazier,
Gavin Bedoya (Honolulu/Kaiser) improved his score by three shots with a final round 83 to finish at 169.
The Triangular was the final tune-up for the 'Swords, who will next be in action at the 54-hole Pacific West Conference Championships at the Waikoloa Beach Course on the Big Island staring Monday, April 19.
