Kyla Takazono (Pearl City, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) was named Thursday to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division II Academic All-District 8 Team, as selected by members of CoSIDA.
Â
The junior Elementary Education major owns a cumulative grade-point average of 3.95 and has been named to the Academic All-Pacific West Conference Team twice and the D2 ADA Academic Achievement award last summer. Takazono has been a constant in the lineup since her freshman season, having started 30 of 31 career matches including 27 straight headed into this coming fall 2021 year. During the spring season, she helped the Silverswords capture the PacWest Hawai'i Pod, the program's first-ever title.
Â
Takazono is eligible to be on the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, which will be announced in July.
Â
She is the second 'Sword from women's soccer to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. In 2018,
Alyssa Tanigawa also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District and was later named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team.
Â
The Division II CoSIDA Academic All-America program is partially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Divisions II Academic All-America programs.
