IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University goalkeeper
Brandon Yasue (Honolulu/Kaiser) was named Monday the first Pacific West Conference Men's Soccer Defender of the Week for fall 2021.

The junior earned the win and clean sheet – both career firsts – in Saturday's 2-0 season-opening non-conference win over Hawai'i Pacific. Yasue made two saves as the Silverswords' defense limited the Sharks to just seven total shots.
Saturday's win snapped a two-match losing streak to HPU and was the third in the last six meetings dating back to Nov. 3, 2018. Chaminade was 1-23-2 against the Sharks all-time prior to that date.
Azusa Pacific's Gregorie Deip was named the conference's player of the week.
The 'Swords return to action Thursday, Sept. 16 against the University of Hawai'i Hilo in another non-conference tilt at Saint Louis Field.
