IRVINE, Calif. – For the second time this season, the Chaminade University women's volleyball team is the Pacific West Conference Team of the Week.
The 16-6 Silverswords won their matches against Dominican and Holy Names last week to remain undefeated in the conference at 11-0, holding a 2 ½-match lead over second-place Fresno Pacific (9-3). The 'Swords not only tied the program record with their 13th straight win, they also won their 19th consecutive PacWest match, dating back to last season.
Azusa Pacific's Annaka Jorgenson was the PacWest Player of the Week while Defender of the Week honors went to Biola's Abigail Copeland.
Meanwhile, the 'Swords remain just outside the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll, garnering enough votes to put them at No. 28.
The schedule ramps up beginning this week as Chaminade meets several other contenders for the PacWest crown. The 'Swords face Point Loma on Wednesday and Concordia University Irvine on Friday at McCabe Gymnasium. Both opponents are 8-3 in the conference, tied for third, and are rematches from September, when Chaminade defeated both in their own buildings.
First serve for both matches are at 7 p.m.
