IRVINE, Calif. – Chaminade University infielder Taryn Fujioka (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) on Monday was named the Pacific West Conference Softball Player of the Week.

The freshman was instrumental in helping the Silverswords win all six games last week, hitting 13 of 22 from the plate for a .591 average with eight runs, two RBI, a double and three triples. In each of the six contests, Fujioka recorded multiple hits and scored at least one run.

She is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak and is batting .425 on the year, fifth in the PacWest.

The Silverswords' 10-4 start is the best 14-game open in school history while their 8-2 PacWest mark is also a program recrod after 10 games. Their current six-game winning streak is the longest since 2013.

The 'Swords will be put to the test starting next Monday when they open an 18-day Southern California road trip at Concordia University Irvine, the No. 2 ranked squad in Division II, in a battle of the top two teams in the PacWest. The Eagles, who are 24-0 to start 2022, own the best overall record across all three NCAA divisions after Alabama lost twice to LSU in Division I last week.

First pitch at Eagles Softball Field in Irvine will be at 3 p.m. Pacific time.
