TEMPE, Ariz. – The Chaminade University women's tennis team was honored Tuesday for its work inside the classroom, being named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II All-Academic Team while four of its student-athletes were honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The Silverswords are one of 97 D-II programs to earn the All-Academic Team award. To be eligible for the award, teams must have a minimum team grade-point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale for all rostered student-athletes for the 2022-23 academic term. It marks the sixth straight year the team has earned the team award.
Individually,
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway),
Kirra Carvalho (Lihue, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kaua'i),
Sydney Danielson (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) and
Emily Ramirez Miranda (Honolulu/Kaiser) were each named ITA Scholar-Athletes. They are among 623 nationally to earn the organization's individual academic award.
Ramirez Miranda earned her third ITA honor while Danielson earned her second. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 during the 2022-23 academic calendar.
