Chaminade University women's tennis student-athletes
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway),
Kirra Carvalho (Lihue, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kaua'i),
Sydney Danielson (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) and
Kylie Ye (Laie, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Asia Pacific International School) were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Buttery, a dual-sport student-athlete who also is a reserve forward for the women's basketball team, has a 4.00 grade-point average, majoring in Data Science. The sophomore played in eight singles matches and seven in doubles.
Carvalho, a Biology major, played nine singles and all 11 doubles matches, the latter all in the No. 2 position.
Danielson saw action in eight singles matches and five doubles matches. The junior, who is the most experienced Silversword who has played three seasons, is a Data Science major.
Ye returned to the team after a one-year hiatus, played in all 11 of the 'Swords' singles and doubles matches. The junior Elementary Education major entrenched herself in No. 3 singles all season while playing all her doubles matches with Carvalho at the No. 2 spot.
To be considered for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and be in the lineup for 70 percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores.
The Division II CSC Academic All-America program are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structures to assist with CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division II Academic All-America program.
