LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Chaminade University's
Taryn Fujioka (Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Pearl City) on Thursday was named to the NFCA Division II All-West Region Second Team at shortstop.
Chaminade's first-ever Pacific West Conference Player of the Year in softball was the first Silversword to accomplish a .400 hitting season since 2013, slashing .415/.481/.644 on the year, all of which led the league. The All-PacWest Second Team honoree also had 17 extra-base hits including a PacWest-high six triples while producing 26 runs and 16 RBI. In her 36 games, Fujioka had at least one base hit in 26 of them.
Defensively, she recorded 96 assists and helped turn nine of Chaminade's 21 double plays which helped the Silverswords rank second in Division II in double plays per game at 0.58.
The all-region teams are selected by NFCA member coaches from each of the eight regions in Division II. All honorees are eligible for NFCA All-America status which will be announced on May 22.
It is Fujioka's first all-region honor.
