The Chaminade University women's tennis team continued to make progress during the 2024 season. With 11 underclassmen, the Silverswords gained a lot of experience throughout the year against quality opponents.
The 'Swords saw a consistent lineup all season with
Berylin Lau (Wailuku, Maui, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Maui),
Jordyn Luna (Kahului, Maui, Hawai'i/Maui) and
Kylie Ye (Laie, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Asia Pacific International School) occupying the top three singles lineups in all 11 matches. Ye picked up her first career collegiate win in a March 4 victory, defeating Dominican's Logan Koitka in a three-set tiebreaker.
Kirra Carvalho (Lihue, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kaua'i) played nine singles matches at No. 4 while junior
Sydney Danielson (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake), the Silverswords' most experienced player with two years of service entering the year, saw most of her singles action at the fifth singles position.
Anciane Claire Miguel (Honolulu/Farrington),
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) and
Danica Palmer (Philadelphia/Upper Merion Area) all split time at No. 6 singles.
In doubles, Lau and Luna firmly held the top dual position while Carvalho and Ye were doubles partners all year at No. 2. Head coach
Ty Aki, who completed his 10th season this past spring, mixed and match Buttery, Danielson, Miguel, Palmer and
Jasmine Matos (Orlando, Fla./Fashion Institute of Technology/Colonial HS) at No. 3 doubles.
