Six Chaminade University student-athletes were named Tuesday to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large Teams.
Five of the honorees were on the beach volleyball squad with one from men's golf.
Hula Crisostomo (Honolulu/Univ. of Texas El Paso/Moanalua HS),
DeLaney Poling (Gilbert, Ariz./Park Univ./Perry HS),
Sophie Schilling (Berlin, Germany/Alaska/Schul- and Leistungsportszentrum Berlin HS),
Grace Talpash (Temecula, Calif./University of Oklahoma/Great Oak HS) and
Elli Tsukano (Austin, Texas/James Bowie) were the beach volleyball recipients.
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) from men's golf is Chaminade's men's honoree.
Crisotomo had four wins during the beach season while Poling enjoyed five. Schilling and Tsukano were playing partners for the first 13 of the team's 16 matches, earning six wins together. Tsukano led the Silverswords with eight total wins. Talpash finished tied for second in wins with seven.
Crisostomo and Schilling were also CSC Academic All-District awardees earlier in the academic term for indoor volleyball.
Buonopane was honored from the men's golf team which captured the school's first-ever national postseason title after helping the 'Swords win the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship in May. Buonopane averaged 80.8 shots per round during 2023-24 but found a groove in his final three tournaments, averaging 79.4 including a critical 76 in the final round of the PWCC which enabled the 'Swords to claim the title.
The at-large nominees comprise of smaller Olympic sport participants where a school can nominate a maximum of six male and six female student-athletes.
To be considered for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, academically and athletically; have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50; and must compete in 70 percent of matches that were team scoring events.
