For the eighth consecutive season, the Chaminade University women's tennis team was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as a recipient of the Division II Women's Tennis ITA Academic Team Award. Eight Silverswords were also honored individually with the ITA Scholar-Athlete Award.
The 'Swords, who have been recognized as a team each season since 2016-17, earned a team grade-point average of 3.65. Teams are required to have a team GPA of 3.20 to earn the ITA Academic Team Award.
Meanwhile the eight individuals who were named as ITA Scholar-Athletes were
Carine Bleasdell (Kihei, Maui, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Technology Academy),
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway),
Kirra Carvalho (Lihue, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kaua'i),
Sydney Danielson (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake),
Sameera Elmasri (Shawnee, Kan./Birmingham-Southern Univ./Saint Thomas Aquinas HS),
Jordyn Luna (Kahului, Maui, Hawai'i/Maui),
Anciane Claire Miguel (Honolulu/Farrington) and
Kylie Ye (Laie, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Asia Pacific International School).
Buttery, Carvalho and Danielson are all repeat honorees for the ITA Scholar-Athlete Award.
The eight student-athletes equals the previous high of individual honorees set by the 2018-19 team.
To earn the ITA Scholar-Athlete Award, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.50 during the 2023-24 academic term.
