LONG BEACH, Calif. – In a vote that is close as close can get, the Pacific West Conference Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll has Chaminade University and Point Loma tied after a vote by conference coaches.
The Silverswords and Sea Lions both received 187 points and all 14 first-place votes, seven each.
The teams have combined to win the last three PacWest titles with the Sea Lions earning the mantle last year.
Azusa Pacific, Biola and Concordia University Irvine round out the top five.
The 'Swords open their season Tuesday with an exhibition against Brock University of Canada at McCabe Gymnasium at 6 p.m. All five sets will be played regardless of who gets to three wins first.
Chaminade opens regular season action on Thursday, Oct. 29, with the Hawai'i-Alaska Challenge against the University of Alaska Anchorage at noon followed by the University of Alaska at 6 p.m.
