HONOLULU – The Chaminade University beach volleyball team on Tuesday dropped a 5-0 score to the University of San Francisco at Hunakai Park.
The Silverswords managed to take two matches to decisive third sets. In the first match of the day, Chaminade's No. 5 team of
Kanoelehua Misipeka (Pago Pago, American Samoa/Liberty North, Mo.) and
Kendall Rios (Tustin, Calif./Foothill) rallied from a set down to force a final set against the Dons' Francesca Stanschus and Lucy Spier before dropping the match by a 15-12 score.
The 'Swords' second winner-take-all pairing came at Flight 3.
Nanna Inoue (Kula, Maui, Hawai'i/Tyler JC/King Kekaulike HS) and
Mahala Ka'apuni (Hilo, Hawai'i/Alaska Anchorage/Hilo HS) took their opening set against Jacquelyn Straw and Rainie Stevens, 21-14, but the USF duo won the second and third sets to clinch the match for the Dons.
Chaminade fell to 2-5 while San Francisco improved to 2-9.
The Silverswords continue action on Wednesday with a rematch against USF at 8 a.m. followed by their third meeting of the season against Hawai'i Pacific University. Both matches will be at Queen's Beach in Waikiki.
