Four members of the Chaminade University women's tennis team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
Carine Bleasdell (Kihei, Maui, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Technology Academy),
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway),
Kirra Carvalho (Lihue, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kaua'i) and
Kylie Ye (Laie, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Asia Pacific International School) were recognized for their work in the classroom.
Bleasdell is an Elementary Education major with a 3.63 grade-point average. The junior played in nine doubles and nine single matches this past season.
Buttery, a dual-sport student-athlete who also played for the women's basketball team, participated in all 13 of the Silverswords' matches, playing seven doubles matches in the No. 2 slot while taking the court as the top duo in one match. On the hardwood, the junior played 15 games and averaged 9.3 minutes per game. A Criminology and Criminal Justice major, Buttery carries a 4.00 GPA.
Carvalho played in all 13 singles and doubles matches this season. The junior, who has a 3.68 GPA in Biology, was the No. 2 singles player for eight matches and at No. 1 doubles in six, the rest on the second duo.
Ye was the 'Swords' No. 1 singles competitor in eight of her 11 total matches this past season and also was on the top doubles team in all in her final season. The senior carried a 3.79 GPA in Elementary Education.
To be recognized on the Academic All-District team, candidates must be a sophomore both academically and athletically, have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and have played in either 90 percent or have started in 66 percent of their team's contests.
Institutions can nominate up to four candidates for Academic All-District honors.
The Division II CSC Academic All-America® programs is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II Academic All-America® programs.
