Hilo, HI- Tonight the Swords came out swinging, taking an early lead on UH-Hilo, but couldn't hold on, falling to the Vulcans in three games 23-25, 17-25, and 23-25. CUH led in every game, including a 23-20 lead in the first game. The Vulcans came back to win the first game 25-23 and took the momentum for the sweep. Senior Trina Kauliakamoa was hitting well all night, finishing with a .344 hitting percentage and 12 kills for the Swords. Chauntelle Maduli led the defense with 12 digs and sophomore Tanya Alvino led with 20 assists. Chaminade was out-hit by UH-Hilo .291 to .152. The Swords won the block battle 9 to 8. Junior Vanja Radanovic led Chaminade with 3 blocks. Josimara Pinheiro led the Vulcans with 16 kills. With the loss, Chaminade falls to 9-12, Hawaii-Hilo moves to 16-7 with the win. The two teams meet again on Oct. 25th at 7:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
