Honolulu, HI- In a Pac West Conference matchup at St. Louis Field, Chaminade gave a commendable effort against conference leader, Grand Canyon in a 2-0 defeat.
The Swords came out ready to go and took Grand Canyon forty minutes before Johnny Vieira scored in the forty-first minute for the 'Lopes. The match went into the break 1-0 Grand Canyon.
Chaminade did not falter after the early goal, and created some good second half chances in an attempt to knot the match up. Johnny Vieira added a goal in the 76th minute for the 2-0 Grand Canyon victory.
Brandon Salvador (Pearl City, HI/Pearl City) took three shots for Chaminade. Michael Marrs (Kihei, HI/Baldwin) and Keenan Ho (Honolulu, HI/St. Louis) each managed a shot for CUH.
Darren Smith (Mililani, HI/Mililani) made 2 saves in for CUH. Chaminade lost the shot total 18-8.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 2-10. Grand Canyon improves to 11-2-1. Chaminade is set to play another home Pac West conference match on October 24th against Dominican. Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM HT at St. Louis Field.
