Waipahu, HI- Hall of fame coach Lou Holtz once said, “We didn't lose the game we just ran out of time.” This would characterize the first game for the Swords tonight. They ended up losing in an 11 inning battle with the Seasiders. The second game ended prematurely due to the power being cut out at Central Oahu Regional Park, due to the fact that BYUH was up 9 to 3 at the time of the stoppage; they were declared the winner.
Game # 1- The first game the Swords played the Seasiders tough. Sophomore Chelsi Walls faced 42 batters, gave up only 8 hits and two earned runs that came in the Top of the 11th inning. The first game was just flat out solid defense. Every player in every position stepped up on defense, unfortunately the Swords were unable to assemble any runs and lost a heart felt battle 2 to 0. Chaminade had 6 hits on 40 at bats; Keli-Grace Kaowilli-Saniatan had 3 of the 6 hits, going 3 for 5 on the day. The other hits were from, Shalin Yamaguchi, Kasy'e Lalau and Erin Keelan.
Game # 2- Chaminade was starting a late rally when the lights literally cut out and forced the game to be stopped prematurely. The Seasiders were on top at the time and declared 9 to 3 winners. Chaminade started to get things rolling offensively in the latter part of the game; unfortunately their momentum was cut short due to the stoppage in play.
The Swords had 10 hits on 31 at bats. Sophomore Kasy'e Lalau gave up 9 hits and 4 earned runs, she falls to 0-4 on the year.
With the losses, CUH moves to 0-8 overall, while BYU Hawaii moves to 4-8 on the year. The Swords are back in action on February 22nd against Hawaii Pacific University at 5:00 PM HST, the game will be played at Central Oahu Regional Park (CORPS). This game will be televised live on OC16.
