HONOLULU, HI – Chaminade fell to Illinois State today, 8-1 at the Hale Koa Tennis Courts in Waikiki. It was the Swords first match since February 28
th.
Chaminade battled the Division I Illinois State Redbirds, garnering a doubles win but were shutout in singles action. In #1 singles,
Yanita Arnaudova (Hazkova, Bulgaria/Azen Zlatarov Foreign Language School) nearly took down Aniko Kiss, falling in a tiebreaker, 6-0, 4-6, 10-6. All PacWest performer
Yuka Kondo (Irvine, Ca/San Joaquin) combined with Arnaudova to earn the lone Silverswords win, a 8-5 decision in #1 doubles over Emmy Marx and Phyllis Tigges.
Coach Mosley commented after the match: “Illinois State is good and they were ready to play. Our girls didn't control the things they needed to control. They didn't show up ready to play today and that is disappointing.”
Chaminade is back in action on March 15th, facing BYU-Hawaii at 2:00 PM HT in Laie, HI.
With today's loss, Chaminade moves to 4-4 on the year. Illinois State improves to 6-6.
