WAIPIO, HI – Chaminade dropped a NCAA West Region contest this morning by a score of 6-3 to Sonoma State at the Central Oahu Regional Park Tennis Courts.
Chaminade's #1 and #2 singles players,
Yanita Arnaudova and
Yuka Kondo combined for all three Chaminade wins on the match. Sophomore
Yanita Arnaudova (Hazkova, Bulgaria/Azen Zlatarov Foreign Language School) defeated Megan White in #1 singles 6-2, 6-0. Senior
Yuka Kondo (Irvine, CA/San Joaquin) followed suit in #2 singles, winning 6-0, and 6-3. Arnaudova and Kondo combined to win in #1 doubles 8-0 for the final Sword victory. The Seawolves of Sonoma State responded, winning #3-#6 singles and #2 and #3 doubles.
Coach Mosley commented after the match: “I was disappointed with some of our players today. We have some players who have under-achieved at practice and it clearly showed on the courts today.”
Chaminade is back in action on March 28th, facing Hawaii-Hilo at 10:00 AM HT in Waipio, HI (CORP).
With today's loss, Chaminade moves to 4-7 on the year. Sonoma State improves to 7-7.
