LAIE, HI – Chaminade won a PacWest conference matchup this morning by a score of 5-4 over UH-Hilo on the campus of BYU-Hawaii.

Yuka Kondo, won at #2 singles over Emelie Laussen for the second time in three days. Sophomore
Yanita Arnaudova (Hazkova, Bulgaria/Azen Zlatarov Foreign Language School) won a close match at #1 singles 6-3, 5-7 and 7-5 over Melanie Virivapunt of the Vulcans. The win at #1 singles was the lone difference in the results of Chaminade's match with UH-Hilo from March 28
th and today's victory. Senior
Yuka Kondo (Irvine, CA/San Joaquin) combined with Arnaudova in #1 doubles, winning 8-5. Chaminade also won the #2 doubles match 8-2 as senior
Natalie Phanphengdy (Aiea, HI/Aiea) and sophomore
Jan Matsumoto (Honolulu, HI/Maryknoll) earned the win. The Silverswords won the close match via doubles play, going 2-1 in doubles, while splitting singles play 3-3 with UH-Hilo.
Coach Mosley commented after the match: “We snuck it out. We were down two match points and we got lucky. Isel (Barba) fought hard at #5 singles, Yuka (Kondo) played well. As a team we dug deep and pulled it out.”
Chaminade is back in action at the PacWest Championships hosted by Dominican University in San Rafael, CA on April 19-21.
With today's win, Chaminade moves to 5-8 on the year. Hawaii-Hilo drops to 4-10.
