Box Score HONOLULU, HI- The Swords defeated the Yellowjackets of Montana State Billings 3-1 in the opener of the 2012 Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Invitational for both teams.

Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) kill clinched the first set for the Swords, 25-23.
Chaminade kept the momentum in the second set, winning 25-20 to take a two-set lead. The Yellowjackets rebounded in game three, taking the set from CUH 25-17. The Swords refused to let MSU Billings tie the match, taking the fourth and final set 25-19 to earn the season opening win.
MSU-Billings hit .126 for the match, while Chaminade hit .128 on the match.

Kim Spring (Bern, Switzerland/ Feusi Bildungszentrum and Feusi Sportschule) led the Swords 15 kills on a .231 hitting percentage, while setters
Daniella Montoya (Las Vegas, NM/ Robertson) and freshman
Valentina Bevilacqua (Vacallo, Switzerland/Scuola Cantonale di Commercio Bellinzona) led the CUH offense with 20 and 21 assists respectively.

Athena Maskarich (Redwood City, CA/Notre Dame) led the Swords with 30 digs on the match.
The Yellowjackets were led by Monica Grimsrud with 11 kills.
The Swords improve to 1-0 (0-0 PWC) with the win. Montana State Billings falls to 0-1. Chaminade is back in action on Friday night as the Swords take on Seattle Pacific. First serve is set for 7:30 PM HT.
